Creating an interactive product – Web Authoring software against Presentation software

When creating an interactive product, you have different options when it comes to the software used.

I think that the choice of software depends entirely on the product being made.

On one hand, you could use Web Authoring software. This is software used to create web pages and web sites, for example, Dreamweaver. This would be more appropriate for creating an interactive web page, using links and features to attract the audience. A disadvantage of using web authoring software is that only people with browsing software can access this interactive product.

However on the other hand, you could use Presentation software. This is mainly used to create presentations, however could be used to create an interactive product using animation and links. An example of Presentation software is Microsoft Powerpoint  Presentation software would be more appropriate for creating an animation, however could be used to create something similar to a web page, with links and options. A disadvantage of using presentation software is that it is not directly on the internet, you will have to go through and possibly download it to gain access to the file.

The decision on which is more appropriate also depends on how comfortable you are with the software. For example, i am much more used to using presentation software, so given the choice, i am likely to choose this, however someone who has more experience using web authoring software is more certain to choose that.

  1. You have given a good argument for using PowerPoint for creating your own product. Know that you have begun to use it do you still feel it is the most suitable? Has it allowed you to create all the different elements you had planned? Vivos awarded for your thorough research.
